What is Chi?

The last few years I have heard more about healing energy and recently learned that there are so many types out there. It can all be so confusing as to what to use when and with who. I hope this sheds some light on it all. I find anytime I write about a topic I also learn more.

Back in the late 90s I heard about our chi energy and how we all have it and can learn how to unblock it for better health. What is chi? The definition is vital energy that is held to animate the body internally and is of central importance in some Eastern systems of medical treatment (as acupuncture) and of exercise or self-defense (as tai chi) from the websters online dictionary. Even though this word is centuries old my websters book dictionary did not have a definition. Etymology: means air or breath.

Recently I have learned about healing touch and many hospitals are using it with trained nurses.  The idea is to use energy from one person to heal another.  The first time I did this to a person it amazed me how my hand would be pushed or pulled away with the persons energy.  If there was an injury the energy was out even farther.   I started adding this into my morning stretching routine for the pain in my shoulder.  Then I went to a Mind, Body,Spirit fair and experienced healing touch by professionals.  Wow that was amazing.  They calmed my energy down, relaxed me and energized me.  Their hands warmed up from the energy of my body. I found a new tool to heal my sick body from west nile virus.

Life Energy

While at the fair I learned there are many forms of energy healing:

Reiki=Etymology: Japanese, literally, spirit, from rei spirit, soul + ki vital force, mind. A system of touching with the hands based on the belief that such touching by an experienced practitioner produces beneficial effects by strengthening and normalizing certain vital energy fields held to exist within the body.

EFT= Emotional Freedom Technique uses meridian points of the body stimulated by tapping and not needles.

Acupuncture=Etymology: Latin acus + English puncture. An originally Chinese practice of inserting fine needles through the skin at specific points especially to cure disease or relieve pain (as in surgery).

Shamanic healing= uses animal or human spirits as power or forces to conduct energy to heal emotionally or physically.

Qigong=  Etymology: Ch (Beijing) qìgōng, from chi + gōng achievement, skill. An ancient Chinese healing art involving meditation, controlled breathing, and movement exercises

Life Force= Native Americans use songs, rituals, chants, hands on, ceremony, smudging, and herbalism to reconnect with spirit nature

Human Animal Bond

Animals can also feel this energy and it can be used to heal them as well.   I have tried it on my dog and she wonders why I am not petting her fur.   They say an animal’s energy is out way father then ours. My dog is very in tune to my energy and knows when I am getting sick before I do.

This is another tool in the natural and alternative healing toolbox for whole body wellness.  Please correct anything I may have written wrongly and share the types of healing you use.
