An Acupuncture Journey of Healing
58Acupuncture is Ancient Medicine
I never thought I would allow needles in my body to align my meridians. I thought it was crazy. When my health failed due to a virus originating in Africa and the medical profession had no answers, I turned to acupuncture.
This ancient art form has been around before pre-dated recorded history. Chinese Medicine is the home of this mysterious healing power and has many great teachers. I have heard of acupuncture for many years and it was not until recently that friends told me they had used it for one thing or another. It had healed the pain they were having at the time. I figured with thousands of years of practice that it had endured to heal people and animals that it was worth a try.
Detangling a Confused System
I did research because that is who I am and I have spent thousands of dollars on medical care for this illness so I want to be certain this is the right path to take. I interviewed various acupuncturists and appreciate the time they took with me. In the end I decided to go with a practice that gave an insurance discount. I was awed at how the practitioner took time to understand what was going on with my body and explained how this therapy could help.
The initial visits were frequent and purging of the illness. My system was so entangled and confused that it took a couple months to bring balance back with these tiny needles in my skin. As various other illnesses mixed with the west nile virus the practitioner took time to understand what my body was experiencing. This is what modern western medicine does not do. I can see how people turn towards Chinese medicine because this medicine works with the body to realign meridians and open blocks so chi can flow again.
Give It a Try!
A friend of mine says they see me as a dart board with the practitioner throwing needles at my body. They also understand how more at peace and together my health is after a treatment and is amazed. Acupuncture makes people cringe at the thought of a needle in their skin and I was one of them. Now I see it as another healing tool in my tool box and I am forever grateful for the healers that had the foresight to see it through. I definitely recommend acupuncture to anyone with an ailment that modern medicine cannot heal.

Nice hub, I have used acupuncture before and found it great. Yes it can be a little oozy the first time around, but you don't feel a thing and amazingly it works!
